Construction of μ-Limit Sets of Two-Dimensional Cellular Automata
We prove a characterization of μ-limit sets of two-dimensional cellular automata, extending existing results in the one-dimensional case. This sets describe the typical asymptotic behaviour of the cellular automaton, getting rid of exceptional cases, when starting from the uniform measure.
متن کاملRice's Theorem for μ-Limit Sets of Cellular Automata
Cellular automata are a parallel and synchronous computing model, made of infinitely many finite automata updating according to the same local rule. Rice’s theorem states that any nontrivial property over computable functions is undecidable. It has been adapted by Kari to limit sets of cellular automata [Kar94], that is the set of configurations that can be reached arbitrarily late. This paper ...
متن کاملμ-Limit Sets of Cellular Automata from a Computational Complexity Perspective
This paper is about μ-limit sets of cellular automata, i.e. sets of con gurations made of words which have a positive probability to appear arbitrarily late in the evolution, starting from an initial μ-random con guration. More precisely, we investigate the computational complexity of these sets and of decision problems concerning them. Our main results are: rst, that such a set can have a Σ3ha...
متن کاملNilpotency and Limit Sets of Cellular Automata
A one-dimensional cellular automaton is a dynamical system which consisting in a juxtaposition of cells whose state changes over discrete time according to that of their neighbors. One of its simplest behaviors is nilpotency: all configurations of cells are mapped after a finite time into a given “null” configuration. Our main result is that nilpotency is equivalent to the condition that all co...
متن کاملA ug 2 00 6 Density of periodic points , invariant measures and almost equicontinuous points of Cellular
Revisiting the notion of μ-almost equicontinuous cellular automata introduced by R. Gilman, we show that the sequence of image measures of a shift ergodic measure μ by iterations of a μ-almost equicontinuous cellular automata F , converges in Cesaro mean to an invariant measure μc. If the initial measure μ is a Bernouilli measure, we prove that the Cesaro mean limit measure μc is shift mixing. ...
